How do you know if you are properly hydrated?
Dehydration can present itself with many symptoms that often maybe overlooked by individuals. Symptoms such as feeling tired, muscle cramping, decreased urine output, lightheadedness may signify you are suffering from dehydration and need fluids to restore proper balance to your body, it is what we in medicine call homeostasis
If so, can I just drink more water?

Unfortunately the rapid consumption of water does not lead to improvement of hydration. In fact, over consuming water in a short period of time has been associated with dangerous outcomes.
